Office of Investigations » Hotline

The OIG welcomes information provided by current and former employees, as well as the public, concerning fraud, waste, abuse, or mismanagement at the Commission, and misconduct by Commission staff and contractors.  To facilitate the making of complaints, the OIG has established a hotline for the confidential reporting of suspected fraud, waste or abuse in SEC programs and operations, and SEC staff or contractor misconduct.  Hotline complaints may be made by either calling the OIG’s toll-free hotline number, (877) 442-0854, where a specially-trained hotline operator will record all important details of the complaint, or by completing an Online Complaint Form.

Complainants are encouraged to assist the OIG by providing their names and information on how they may be contacted for additional information.  However, individuals submitting complaints through the OIG hotline may request to remain anonymous.  The OIG keeps the identities of anonymous complainants confidential.

Some matters are outside the OIG’s jurisdiction and are handled by other agency components.  To file a complaint about a securities law violation or to provide tips on potential security law violation, please go to the SEC Center for Complaints and Enforcement Tips.  To complain about unlawful employment discrimination at the SEC, including discriminatory harassment, or to obtain information about the SEC’s equal employment opportunity program, please contact the SEC’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office
